A collection of my video work and digital video projects.
Time Lapse carve of a realistic portrait of Michael Keaton as Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice on a Fun-kin foam pumpkin using a dremel. This carve took about 7 hours and was completed over the course of 3 days. This was filmed using the time lapse function on my iPhone 7 plus and then edited in iMovie where I increased the speed to x2.
This music video was a collaboration with my good friend Jessica Heackel, Ryan Sellick, and myself. I helped film a lot of the video (all of the close up shots and non-aerial footage), helped set things on fire, and assited with consulting.
This is a reaction video I made of myself getting EnChroma Glasses and checking out some of my paintings in color for the first time. I have moderate to strong Protanopia. These fancy glasses help me fix it a bunch.
Everything you need to know about customer service is right here. New video work from 2016
Made in 2008, a different take on the genre of Film Noir by using the standard elements of the genre and artistically heightening them to new levels. Featuring the music of nine inch nails: GHOSTS I-IV. This was first uploaded to YouTube prior to the site allowing videos longer than 10 minutes so for quality retention I split the film into 3 sections. You can find a direct link to Vol.2 here, and Vol.3 here.
This was a video art project I competed in 2005. A goth and Industrial take on the format of the morning talk show. Full of terrible humor and black puns that will make you a worse person for watching it. May it dampen your spirit.
A video project I made in 2007. This short was an project I had for a typography class. The assignment was to use any media to make an example of moving/animated type. I chose video.
A time lapse instructional video on how to carve a portrait of Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter onto a pumpkin for Halloween... and yes, I did make the stencil.
A digital video project I made in 2007. An experiment in abstract and melodic piece combining cropped and overlaying imagery and remixed with music from Team Sleep and Dido.
A video project I made in 2007. This was an experiment in sound editing using solely clips from filmed video. In this video I recreate the auditory sensation of working at a movie theater.
The Stranded
This is an ongoing experiment combining Wire Sculpture and Photography. Each wire sculpture is hand made using a single continuous strand of wire. The sculptures are then photographed as if they were strangers in an even stranger world.
This is a archive of occasions where my work has been featured online or in print by various media and journalism outlets. In many cases I have provided links to the original content as it had been posted. However, keeping these featurettes hosted online is subject to the platforms that host that content. As such, older content may have been removed or delisted.
Please note that because of this I have made a diligent effort to preserve both video links and stories where possible. In the event that a link becomes invalid I will attempt to provide an alternative link to a copy the content as best as I can.

American Artist Joey Edwards (Edwards Pumpkins) has this to say about his work: "I make weird and wonderful things. Wire sculpture, hyper realistic carved pumpkin portraits, painting and more." And: "When I was a kid I would make many of my own toys out of wire, clay, and tinfoil. Anything I wanted to play with was limited only by my own imagination."
Posted in November 2022, Bored Panda posted a very thoughtful write up on, by Hidrėlėy, and shared a TON of my work!
“Joey Edwards, also known as Edwards Pumpkins, is a Portland-based artist who focuses on painting lifelike portraits on intriguing canvases. Edwards displays his talent by carving beautiful representations of various fictional characters and well-known figures out of pumpkins.
He manipulates the lighting to make it appear as though viewers are viewing a 3D portrait while carving the details into the pumpkins with rotary blades and drill bits. The artist can work from photographs or creative compositions and accepts commissions…”

Sometime the best coverage is the ones you didn’t even know about! I just discovered this very kind piece posted on Spooky Daily written by Sodiumnami about my pumpkin carving.
“Now, this is scarily good!
Meet Joey Edwards AKA Edwards Pumpkins, a Portland-based artist that specializes in creating realistic portraits on a very interesting canvas. True to his chosen moniker, he uses foam pumpkins to showcase his talent for creating stunning portraits of different fictional characters and famous celebrities.
Edwards uses knives and rotary bits to carve the details into the pumpkins and plays with the lighting to make it seem like viewers are looking at a 3D portrait. The artist accepts commissions and can create masterpieces based on photos or original compositions… “

On July 21st 2020 I had the pleasure of being interviewed on the Forging Flame Podcast!
”This episode of Forging Flame features Joey Edwards—maker of weird and wonderful things! From wire sculptures to award winning photo-realistic pumpkin carvings, to paintings and mixed media visual art—Joey’s work exudes his affinity for all things spooky and dark, but with a refreshing air of absolute delight and joy. Think Tim Burton meets Jim Carrey.”
